They Will Kill Us All

Big Break Winners

Amps turned to 11, Malaysia’s They Will Kill Us All are a full on sonic assault. A super group pf scenesters from local bands from the 90’s, Edwin, David, Ishan, Feezul and Amir have indie tongues salivating at the prospect of their expansive, symphonic rock. Lying somewhere between UK Brit rock and US styled post-hardcore and with a ferocious live show to boot, all we know is that noise pop never sounded so good.

As winners of AMP's inagural Big Break contest, they've earned the right to perform at Recharge Revelation 5 Global Gathering in front of thousands.  We can't wait!  We took a moment to speak to TWKUA's guiter hero Edwin and get their thoughts on their victory.

Congrats TWKUA, congrats.  What was your reaction when you heard that you had won the Big Break contest?
Surprised and excited,we never thought we had the chance, but its definitely great news to us.

Why do you think music lovers voted for you?
Good music will prevail.

What does this win mean to you and your bandmates?
It's unexpected, seriously. I guess all the hard work of writing, recording and performing has its rewards.

Has this helped raise your band’s profile?
Definitely. Playing high profile shows like these raises the bar for us and keeps us wanting to do better. Most important of all, we as a band gain the much needed experience. I believe that’s the key to survival in the music scene.

Anything you’d like to say to the fans who voted for you?
Thanks so much for voting for us, we really appreciate your support. It’s a big surprise to us to have won. Really hope you guys come catch our set at RECHARGE! Hope we live up to your expectations!

What causes you the biggest frustration when it comes to getting your music out there?
People with single track minds that are not willing to give new music a chance. People that are only comfortable listnening to a specific genre and writing off other music ideas even before checking them out. Seriously, where we come from, the biggest frustration is a lack of support and appreciation towards local fringe music - no proper live houses to play at and it's just a boring scene.

Who are some other AMP artists you admire?
Love Me Butch, Seven Collar T-shirt, Bittersweet and Pop Shuvit. Personally, these guys are the ones that keep coming up with new and exciting ideas and dare to push boundaries. Much respect.

What are you plans for the next six months?
Finish recording our up and coming release, write new songs, shoot some music videos and play more shows!

Nice. Any other shows you're taking part in that you want to plug?
We will be playing the MYHC Hardcore Festival in MCPA Hall, Kuala Lumpur on the 24th of November, and a Charity Show “Louder Then Love” at Zouk on 11th November.
