Where does one begin with Dan F?  Veritable magician in the studio, working with everyone from U.N.K.L.E to Meat Katie to Lee Burridge to The Regurgitator, his artist/producer hat is just one of many classy chapeaus.  Label boss of dance imprint Disuye Records, founding partner of  Supermodified (Asia's premier DJ agency) and yep he also owns and runs Yumla - the legendary HK bar which has become the leading light of the local urban and electronic scene.  So basically we have no idea where to start with Dan F, though since this is AMP and we are music, we thought we'd find out more about his own personal music tastes...

Name / instrument:
Name is Dan F and my favourite instrument is Logic.

What are you listening to right now?
A huge playlist of techno and house... getting ready for a long DJ set this weekend. Plus the EP I'm mixing at the studio "Blue Prince" by new Aussie band BLOX.

First album(s) you ever bought?
Can't remember the first album I bought, but I do remember stealing "Notorious" by Duran Duran from my younger brother's tape collection.

Last album you bought / downloaded?
According to my Beatport receipts the last track purchased would be Benno Blome "Sarahtov Airlines" on Braitbendnoodels Records. That's not a typo either.

Last album that blew you away?
Up until last week I would've answered Thom Yorke "The Eraser" but I literally just heard Nine Inch Nails "Year Zero" all the way thru and that is an incredible piece of work. And it gets released on my birthday so how cool is that.

Last album that truly disappointed?
About 98% of them to be honest. I was particularly pissed with The Good The Bad & The Queen's debut album as the first single was great and being a long time Blur fan I wanted to get behind it. Anyway, it's a duffer. Maybe it'll get better with time but right now I'm just using the CD as a mug coaster.

Album you wished you could have been a part of?
I wish I'd done that bloody Dancing Frog "song" as it made billions of dollars. Then I could afford to open a proper night club, build a huge studio then have enough change left over to drop a bomb on the White House before they f*ck it up for everyone.

An album you think everyone should hear / own?
Mine. And while you're at it, buy 10 copies each.

Desert island discs: 3 albums you just couldn't live without:
I'm too pragmatic to get stuck on some hypothetical deserted island.
Next question!

Favourite album cover art?
Anything which has lots of studio gear pictures or shots of bands getting destroyed in a hotel room. Yes, I'm a geek and voyeur.

Most embarrassing albums you own?
Nickleback... I have no idea what went thru my head when I bought that. It's utterly lame.

Music to chill to:
Classic delta blues, Ali Farka Touré rest his soul, minimal and ambient techno ... anything not too loud or intense. I'm happy plugging my Rhodes piano into a lush reverb unit and just zoning out with that.

Music to put on before a big night out:
"Mad About Me" by Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.

Music to get it on to:
Depends who I'm getting it on with. "Ride of the Valkyries"? Ha!

Song guaranteed to get you on the dancefloor?
I am a famous non-dancer. Great music makes me sit still and listen, not prance about. Too much phasing & comb filtering if you wanna get technical.

Sing us a song:
I pushed a button and elected him to office and uh he pushed a button and then dropped a bomb you pushed a button and can watch it on the television those mutha-fuckers didn't last too long I'm sick of hearing about the haves an' the have-nots have some personal accountability the biggest problem that's the way that we been doing things is the more we let ya have the less that I'll be keeping for me

well I used to stand for something
but forgot what that could be
there's a lot of me inside you
maybe you're afraid to see
