oh chentaku was formed in june 2007. consist of three enthusiastic neighbours of musician from kelana jaya, selangor. type of music is towards 90s post-hardcore/emo.
the name came all the sudden without any particular depth meanings. they are still looking out for more shows to come and currently working on their regional tour to indonesia (19th-25th june 2008) after the successful singapore tour last december 2007 and bangkok tour in may 2008.
they’ve came up with a debut album titled (1)heartbreak ridge was never this arrogant and shockingly 100 copies were sold out during the first week of their album launch last november 2007. at the mean time, oh chentaku is working for their next release which is a complete 7 songs in a cd titled (2)suitcase, a scarf and the departure coming august 2008. currently they are selling their cds at local gigs and some copies can be found in johor bahru (inspire records), ipoh (bodysurf music), kuala lumpur (ricecooker central market, acoustic music station, kedai auntie campbell, dollstore bukit bintang), singapore (propaganda machine), and more disto outlets to come in indonesia, philippines and bangkok. contact them at ohchentaku@gmail.com for online purchases and booking for gigs/events.
they were out on cover story in the star newspaper last july 24th 2007 reviewed at 8tv quickie by rina omar. their song: the wicked offspring and the morning after is currently being airplay in traxx.fm, suria fm and fly fm radiostations since november 22nd 2007 and received excellent feedbacks and reviews from the scene. furthermore, their first music video "polaroid" will be aired somewhere in august 2008 on 8tv quickie.
