"Kaseh" selected as theme song for "Hilang" motion picture (Mon, 5 Nov.)

We are proud to announce that Radiostar’s "Kaseh (4:44)" has been selected as the theme song for the motion picture "Hilang" in theatres insyaallah 2008. Hilang is directed by Opy Zami (Mat Rock of Spanar Jaya) and is starred by Almy Nadia (of TV3’s Dunia Baru) with Radiostar’s Pot Amir and introducing Point Blanc. This thriller was shot mainly in Kuantan, Pahang during Ramadhan 2007. www.hilang.com.my

ROSIN is a solid form of resin obtained from pines and some other plants, mostly conifers.
Rosin is extensively used for its friction-increasing capacity in several fields:
* Bowed string players rub cakes or blocks of rosin on their bow hair so it can grip the strings and make them speak.
* Violin rosin can be applied to bridges in other musical instruments, such as the Banjo and Ukulele, in order to stop the bridge moving during vigorous playing.
* Ballet and flamenco dancers sometimes rub their shoes in powdered rosin to reduce slippage before going on stage - it was at one time used in the same way in fencing.
* Gymnasts use it to improve grip.
* Bull riders rub rosin on their rope and glove for additional grip.
* Baseball pitchers and ten-pin bowlers may have a small bag of powdered rosin nearby, to use on their throwing hand, for better control of the ball.
What's up with the refusal to perform at clubs ?
Some of our fans are tudung-clad girls who come from good religious background. They have never been to these (alcohol-selling) clubs before. You are going to be responsible forever if one day they do set foot inside these places just to see you perform. Anyway, instead of spending sometimes, as high as RM40 inclusive of one free drink for a cover charge just to see your favorite artistes perform, you might as well spend it at Layar Tanchap.
Layar Tanchap ?
Layar Tanchap or wayang pacak is an old form of local community entertainment carnival organized in a pot-luck or gotong-royong kind of way popular in Southeast Asia before the arrival of TV. It was revived in 2003 by a group of people calling themselves Tenggara Performers Club. It has been around until now. Usually it is held on a Friday night and there's never been a cover charge. At every tanchap, anybody is welcomed to showcase their talent in any form and funds are collected on behalf of the nearest local orphanage and all proceeds will go to them by the end of the night. In short, instead of spending RM40 on the stupid cover charge and a lousy first drink, might as well spend it at somewhere you can be entertained or you yourself entertain,and better to spend it on food, drinks and charity donations. Why is it so hard to label your music ?
Simply because all of us are eclectic by nature. Eclectic people make eclectic music. Sometimes it's swing, jazz or even tradisional/ethnic. You can't be cooking the same dish everyday. Unless you're Colonel Sanders of course.
Why the name change after 3 years ?
Because we are independent, therefore we can do whatever we like, thank you.

About ROSIN (so far)
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
ROSIN was formed in 2005 by Pot Amir (of the multi award-winning Soul R&B quartet Innuendo) and Mahfuz “Apuk”, a music graduate of Akademi Seni Kebangsaan under the name "Coming Soon" and later changed to "Radiostar" at that time. To this day Pot insists that ROSIN is a band “united by way of the monsoon rain water of Terengganu” as through a water project in Terenganu was how they met.
The musical partnership was further enhanced during corporate and social functions while performing under the banner of a semi-cultural collective/troupe named “Tenggara Performers Club” throughout 2004/05. On the 31st March 2006, the band Radiostar was launched by giving out Radiostar BottleBillboards™ (Plastic bottles filled with 600ml “Airdew” Alkaline Drinking water with “Radiostar” profile on the label) and performing to more than 500 friends, supporters and a few orphans on top of the UDA building in Bangsar Utama at an event called “Radiostar Undefined @ Tanchap Radiostar”. Radiostar is the first musical act in the world to use the Bottlebillboards™ concept and one of the few amongst Malaysian bands that refuseto perform at venues that sell alcohol. On the 15th of December 2007, 1,000 copies of their debut EP "SATU" containing 7 songs were released under their own label, The Promised Clan (the label that launched VE and Ruffedge) and was sold out (via selected Indie shops) within 5 months. Their follow-up 9-songed EP "DUA" was released on the 25th June 2008 after Malaysia’s premier music magazine , ROTTW gave SATU a whopping 4-and-a-half star rating!
On the 26th of December 2008 just days before 1 Muharram 1430H during a kenduri at Sugar & Spice Cafe in Kelana Jaya, Pot announced their name change to "ROSIN". ROSIN writes and sings about life on earth and beyond. Whenever the word "Cinta" is used in their songs, it is never meant for humans, but for The One True Immortal Love. They refuse to label their music, but upon excessive pestering would only confess that it is “Alkaline Jazz” or sometimes, “Abstract Pop”.
