Release of debut album 'A Step Back Forward' (Fri, 15 Jan.)
Hey dudes and dudettes,
Its Hameer here and I’d like to wish you all a very very Happy New Year and hope everything so far has been well for you folks. Anyway, its been a while since we’ve updated our amp page but now we’re taking the initiative to start fresh in terms of updating our profiles as well as keeping up with the music scene. As proof of us keeping up, we’ve just completed recording of our debut album entitled ’A Step Back Forward’. It features 7 songs and is on sale for RM20. Though we are trying our best to push it into stores but it may take a while. At the moment, if you are interested in getting one we can meet you for COD purposes. On our song playlist there’re two Malay tracks from the album which we plan to release as singles on radio stations soon. Currently, ’Ayammas’ has been getting air time on XFresh.FM and is on their Underground Charts. Anyway, hope you guys will frequently visit our band pages as we are planning to bring the band to new heights this year.
We started the band in late 2005 and 3 months later, released our first demo consisting of six songs, including the single "Videogame". (These songs were written, I might add, while some of us were merely 12 and 11 years of age, many years prior to the release of the demo). Drawing countless amounts of comparisons to bands like System of a Down and Muse, Ask Me Again was actually formed on the basis that everyone’s individual influences be put into the song-writing process, and that, today, is the sound we intend on projecting to our listeners. After the departure of Faiz Rosli (Current vocalist of the band Forty Winks) from the band in August 2007, we recruited Hameerudin Zawawi and haven’t looked back since.
Our biggest achievements to date are to have acquired the top 5th spot on Fly.Fm’s Campur Charts with the single "Videogame", playing as a Guest Band for the Justea, Mister Potato and Touch n’ Go Battle of the Bands, and other high profile shows like Bazooka Series at Laundry Bar, Campur Charts Goes Live and Monash Music Festival. We also provided the backing music for the Mitsubishi Lancer 2007 advertisement, and got airplay on Hot.fm and XFresh.fm for the song “Ayammas”. We were also invited to play at the launch of Burberry’s “The Beat” perfume release which was later followed by a performance for the Johor Bharu Arts Festival in July 2009. In December 2009 we were called to play Malaysia’s biggest and oldest rock festival, “Rock the World 9” for the first time, and have been pre-booked for the 2010 “Rock the World” by Hamka from Fat Boys Records.
We have just released our debut mini-album entitled “A Step Back Forward” and it’s up for sale for RM20 a copy. It includes the much anticipated lead single, “Ayammas” and 2nd single entitled “Harapan”.
*Ask Me Again is a Malaysian rock band that more often than not, sing in English. All songs in Malay were written to cater to the Malaysian market*.
