"A man came to me on a flaming pie and he said, 'you shall be known as Psytrus (pronounced cy-trus), with a P'" In other words, it doesn't mean a thing.
What do you listen to?
Smashing Pumpkins, Sigor Ros, Mogwai, Damn Dirty Apes, Nirvana, The Offspring, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, droplets of water falling from a leaky faucet into an aluminum sink, in between FM stations, silence...
How do you describe your music?
Where harmony meets chaos. Ambiance and random noise contained within a melodic rhythm structure.
Huh? But your songs sound nothing like that.
Watch us play live.
Bio
Slunk has gone through several name and lineup changes over the years, but its formation can be traced back to 2004 when Brendan and Psytrus (formally known as Madaan, still is actually, just living in denial) met in college (SAE) and decided to form a band. They started off playing punk covers and called themselves 2 Guys, a Girl and a Bass Player (they has a girl in the band, and no bassist) and recorded a song called "Happy Break-up To You". After a line-up and musical direction change (alternative rock), they relabeled themselves Isis, after the 1st word they saw in the 1st book they picked up in an MPH outlet. The book was called Goddesses, in case you were wondering. Eventually learning that Isis is the goddess of motherhood and fertility, and also the name of a gazillion other bands worldwide, the band meditated in ice covered mountains for two weeks and renamed themselves Slunk. The band then went through yet another line-up and musical direction change (post-rock). 2007 has been a good year to Slunk, playing at least one gig a month and actually making some money from it, which explains why they are currently working on their 1st EP.
