Bio
FREAK OF CHANNEL was originally formed back in march 2008. The members consists of Nurfitri Abd Rahman (P.T), Faizal Afandi (PEARSOT), Ridzuan Hardy Husin (RIDZ) and Hazrai’ omar (H.B.O). The name “Freak of Channel” was been chosen after a few names used earlier by them. Before freak of channel they were called “The Goliath” and much more. Moreover, without a consistent line up of the band back then, “The Goliath” was called off early February 2008. Starting 1st of March 2008, P.T and Pearsot started to find new line ups for a new band in which that time they didn’t really know what name they should use. After a series of discussion they finally agreed to use freak of channel as their band name. Along with that, they have set Ridz as their lead guitarist and H.B.O as their drummer. Freak of channel means how freaky they are on stage and each song has a freaky touch.
Freak of channel can be categorized as a modern rock band. For instance, the genre of the band is pop rock, with heavy rhythm on guitar plus a lectured guitar solo and a pop bass line and drum line which will make a difference compare to others. Generally, the band’s influences comes from 80’s rock to modern rock, from bands like Aerosmith, Guns “n” Roses, Stone Temple Pilot, Silverchair, Switchfoot, Foo Fighters, Korn, Gigi, Dewa 19, Andra and the Backbone and many more. Mostly, the band’s influenced in song arrangements, song writing and stage performances.
As a band, they all came with different experiences. Each of the band members has been in this industry not less than 5 years. P.T for example, has been involved in the music industry since he joined a band called ”Celia” as a drummer back in 1999. Pearsot also got his own band called ”Dolly the Sheep” and had been playing for 7 years for that band. Ridz also had been involved in this industry for more than 7 years with his previous band, “Four Sized Slipper” and “Celia” while H.B.O was also in the band, “Four Sized Slipper” and had been playing for more than 5 years. In other words, the band itself is new but the members of the band are well experienced within the music industry especially in the ‘indie music scene’ as well as underground music scenes.
The band has currently released their own EP entitled “Lihatlah” which consists of 6 tracks in which all tracks are written in Bahasa Malaysia with 5 interesting tracks like Rasa Apa Yang Ku Rasa, Aku Terseksa, Hidup Ini, Lihatlah & Andai. But in 5 years’ time, the band hopes to be recognized within the Malaysian music scene. The band would also want their music to be heard by Malaysians and wishes to have these listeners’s full support. More over, the band would also want to be discovered by magazines, radio stations, television and other media terms. In the same period of time also, the band hopes to have their own quality album for any listener.
