Bio

Shortly after Stace (vocals, acoustic guitar) arrived in Sydney for his study, he met Indra (originally played bass; but switched to keyboard and guitar since March 2006); one of Stace’s older brother’s best friends. With the same interest in music, the two quickly became close friends, and often go to music concerts together. They also talked a lot about forming a band, but since there were only two of them, the idea never really got a chance. Still wanting to form a rock band, Stace met Adrian (originally played guitar, but switched w/ Indra to bass since March 2006) at an internet forum. But even after they found out that both of them live in Sydney, it took a while until the two actually met each other. Since then, they also talked a lot about music and forming a band. Still having not enough members, the idea of forming a band is still floating around.
In December 2004, Stace unexpectedly meets Jonny (guitar, backing vocals, keyboard) when the latter’s having his lunch at a fast food restaurant. Even though they already know each other for quite a while, they never really talked much to each other. Since both of them are stuck in the middle of a really boring Christmas holiday, they hang out together and from there they discovered that both of them got a really big interest in playing music.
After the four meet each other and feels that they got a great chemistry between them, in Saturday - April 16th 2005, the band was formed. From there, they play together at least once a week, and start writing and practicing their own songs. But the band was still missing one important part: Drummer!
The band contacted their friends, and asked around for a good drummer in Sydney; until suddenly Felix, a long-time friend of the band, proposed himself to be the band’s drummer. Never knowing that Felix could play drums, the four was surprised and happily accepted Felix’s offer. Having a drum kit at his garage, the band practiced at Felix’s garage in their first fourteen months, before Felix resigns from his position to pursue other projects. It was also during this time that Indra has became busy with his daily full-time job and unable to commit himself to band activities, although he still hangs out together with the band members in their spare times.
Not long after that, another long-time friend of the band, Robin, becomes the band’s drummer. With a new drummer, the band once again practiced like crazy and performed on stage. But a year after that, Adrian and Robin’s study in Sydney is over, and so both of them leave Sydney; with Adrian working to open his own indie record store in his hometown, while Robin continued to play drums in his.
After being a duo for a while, Semiquaver’s founding members Stace and Jonny were finally joined by a new guitarist Henry (guitar). Henry is actually a friend of Robin & Adrian’s, and therefore he’s always been around in the band’s social circle. Stace also met Charles (drums), his classmate who came from Hong Kong. After a group presentation, the two hang out together after class and realized that they got some similar musical interests, and Charles joined the band shortly after. In January 2009, the band officially launched an independent music video for their song, "Home", directed by Danif Pradana. At March 2009, "Home" is chosen as the lead radio single for "Stars in Hole Vol. 1", an online compilation album released by indie website Sixteenhole.com's Netlabel. Semiquaver is selected as 1 of the 9 bands featured in the album, out of total 27 bands in the early selection process.
