Project Ei8ht was formally established in April 2004. It consists of 5 members namely Aaron Camoens (drums), Ahmad Kadafi (bass), Christopher Felix(lead guitar),Kelvin Prakash (lead vocals), and Krishna Kumar (percussions). All members hail from KL except singer Kelvin (Penang). They met by chance while pursuing their degrees in MMU (Mulitmedia University) where they stayed together under one roof. At first what started as normal jamming sessions slowly turned serious when they decided to enter the MMU Cyberjaya Battle of the Bands. At this time Kelvin Prakash was roped in as the frontman. It being the first show in which Project Ei8ht performed live they managed to emerge victorious whereby they turned more serious in their music ventures. Subsequent to their first show they entered numerous shows around Selangor and Melaka to obtain their street credit. After a year of gigging around they finally got to recording their EP entitled Life Without Glory which consisted of 5 songs. It was partially sponsored by a competition they won in KL. Their first single was then released on X-fresh Fm on the “Jom Dengar” chart where they ended the week at number 2. With encouragement coming from all around Project Ei8ht continued getting involved in the local music scene in hope of getting more recognition. At this point in time Vinder Singh (Indie Rebels Entertainment) was given the reigns of management and thus helped them get more prominent gigs and assisted them in getting to be known among the local independent scene.
Music Project Ei8ht basically presents an experimental fusion of rock and a blend of classical sounds. They hope to one day take the music scene in Malaysia to greater heights. The versatile tunes they impart are on the lines of bringing the world closer and to spread this message they hope to push their music beyond the borders of race, politics and religion. Beginning with their 5 songs on their EP they have continued to write numerous songs that touch various happenings around the world.
