As the name BOK (a.k.a Bonded on Kinship) implies, the relationship between these guys has become very strong that they see each other as brothers. The colloquial term “bok”, often heard today as synonymous to “brother” or “friend”, also emphasize the closeness of the group. This, in addition to their wide range of influences, has helped each of them define their own sound and create their own brand of music while maximizing the good voice blending of their two main crooners.
The group was formed way back in the late-90's when highschool friends Erwin Bautista, Don Montealegre, Elwynn Dayrit and Owee Nicolas decided to put a band that will serve as an outlet for their common love of rock n’ roll music. Calling themselves “BOK” and adding the sexy number “76”, they decided to call the band BOK76. A name they thought shows the close relationship of the group and the uniqueness of their music.
The sound of BOK76 is centered on emotions of melancholy that portrays life's (relationships and friendships in particular) frustrations, attacked positively with an upbeat tempo, accompanied by a heavy riff that is very pinoy rock.
On August 2007, the band released an independent album they called REVELATIONS. It was an eleven-song recording signifying the rebirth of the band (taking into consideration the entry of drummer Jay Castelo). The songs in it contained the common themes of the band's music: guitar-driven songs of love, hate, angst, frustration, friendship and good old classic rock n’ roll. |
