The Filipino Renaissance Man’s Tribute to Lady Offy Garcia (Fri, 15 Feb.)
Launching his suite of ethnic song compositions based on Mandaya “bayok” and “dawot”, which are part of his forthcoming ethnic album “Sang Kanami Daya” (In Our Land of Promise), a Mindanaoan poet-painter-musician-philosopher Danny Sillada will give a tribute to his art patron Lady Offy Garcia on her first death anniversary at Ricco-Renzo Galleries and Café in Makati City, Philippines. He will also launch his Hip Hop single, a political satire titled “Bulag” (I Am Blind).
The event is a unique blend of exotic ethnic songs, heart-warming love poems, and an exhibit of colorful and exuberant paintings from the multi-talented artist Danny Sillada, also known as the “Filipino Renaissance Man”, slated on February 19, 2006, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m., Ricco-Renzo Galleries and Café, LRI Design Plaza, 210 N. Garcia St. (formerly Reposo), Makati City, Philippines.
To accompany Sillada’s musical performances are Noli Aurillo, one of the leading acoustic guitarists in the country; Eghai Roxas, a well-known Filipino abstractionist, performance artist and percussionist; JP Hernandez, a multi-talented musician playing didjeridu, jimbe, bamboo flute and kobeng, among other musical instruments.
Guest performers are Cesare A.X. Syjuco, a literary iconoclast and a famous multi-media Filipino artist, and Sonny Villafania, an award winning Pangasinan poet and founder-publisher of “Dalityapi”, an international online literary journal.

DANNY C. SILLADAis a painter, poet, musician, philosopher, literary writer, critic, and performance artist from Mindanao, Philippines. As a multimedia artist, he has already received numerous citations and awards and to date, has already launched 11 one-man shows as a surrealist painter.
His ethnic musical composition is highly influenced by the native Mandaya music and ritual in his hometown province in Davao Oriental. He composes and performs his songs evoking the tribal rhythm of his cultural roots and environment.
He is currently working on his forthcoming art exhibit and projects on ethnic music album and books on philosophical essays, collection of prose and journal and a novel due for publication in 2008 and 2009.
He studied priesthood at the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas and San Carlos Seminary, but left his vocation six months before his ordination to the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
He obtained his BA Philosophy & Literature at the Queen of Apostles College Seminary, Davao; his Bachelor in Sacred Theology and post graduate study in Pastoral Theology at the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas, Manila; his MBA at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, Makati, Philippines.
