New Song by The Adams in Quickie Express (Thu, 15 Nov.)

Hello everyone,

The Adams have contributed a song for Quickie Express, the upcoming adult comedy starring Tora Sudiro, Aming and Lukman Sardi, and directed by Dimas Djayadiningrat. THe movie's about a loser named Jojo (Tora Sudiro) who accepts a job with brighter prospects...as a gigolo. What happens next? Catch the movie at your nearest cinema from November 19th.

The Adams' contribution is called "Won't Be Easy," the band's first original material since the v2.05 album. This is an entirely new track, written especially for the film - not something from the vaults that happened to fit. The creation process, from writing to mixing, was relatively brief (about two weeks) due to deadlines, but everyone was smiling throughout. Hopefully it'll raise a few smiles when you finally hear it.

The lyrics were inspired by the film's main protagonist, who's depicted at the start of the movie as a 27 year-old man with an uncertain future, despite his best efforts. It's a situation that many people may have gone through, are going through or will go through, regardless of whether they end up becoming gigolos or not. That feeling is what the lyrics are trying to depict. You could interpret it as what's going on in Jojo's head at the beginning of the film, or as a representation of anyone who's experiencing similar uncertainties.

Want to hear the new track? Watch Quickie Express, wait for the scene at the supermarket during the opening credits. Once you've heard it, don't go straight home. Wait until the film's over. You won't be sorry. For more information, go to www.quickieexpress.com.

You can also purchase the Quickie Express soundtrack, out now on CD for Rp 35.000 at Aksara Bookstore and other quality music outlets. Apart from The Adams, there are also songs by our good friends Sore, White Shoes & The Couples Company and Ape On The Roof, in addition to the film score performed by The Squirts, which consists of some familiar faces. Catch these bands' performances at the Quickie Express soundtrack launch parties at Blitz Megaplex Grand Indonesia, Jakarta this Friday, November 16th and at Blitz Megaplex Paris van Java, Bandung this Saturday, November 17th.

See you there!

Me and you, we're all Adam's children

Q&A
What are The Adams' influences?
Fariz RM, Chrisye, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Sore, Tika, Ria Amelia, a glass of milk, distortion and good vibrations.
Why is the band still called The Adams if there's a female member now?
We're too lazy to change it. Besides, aren't we all children of Adam?
Saleh and Arfan look familiar. Where have I seen them before?
When not with The Adams, Saleh and Arfan are lead guitarists with their other bands, White Shoes & the Couples Company and Karon 'N Roll, respectively. It sure makes things interesting when all three bands have gigs on the same day.
How many albums have The Adams released?
Two so far: our self-titled debut in 2005, with the Ario/Saleh/Beni/Bimo line-up; and 2006's v2.05, with our current formation. Both albums were released through Aksara Records. For the completists, track down these songs on the following compilations: "Just" (Kampus 24 Jam Hits!!!, also available on The Adams); "Mosque of Love" (JKT: SKRG, also available as a hidden track on The Adams); "Konservatif" and "Waiting" (Janji Joni: Original Soundtrack, also available on The Adams); and "Jikalau" (Mesin Waktu: Teman-teman Menyanyikan Lagu Naif, not available on The Adams or v2.05).
How do I contact The Adams? Other than through here, of course.
You can reach us at officialadams@yahoo.com, or you can check out www.myspace.com/theadamsbands . Don't be shy!
How do I book The Adams for a gig or two (or three)?

Bio
In 2002, Ario Hendarwan (lead vocals/guitar), Bawono "Beni" Adhiantoro (drums), Martino "Tino" Runtukahu (guitar) and Setyo Dwiharso (bass) - all students at Institut Kesenian Jakarta - started jamming and came up with original songs that combined crunching garage rock distortion with breathtaking vocal harmonies. Tyo came up with the band name from "Adam and Eve," due to all band members being of the male persuasion. Eventually Tino and Tyo left, Beni switched to bass, while Saleh "Ale" bin Husein (also of White Shoes & the Couples Company) and Bimo Dwipoalam joined on guitar and drums respectively.

In 2005, The Adams released their self-titled debut album, featuring the singles "Konservatif" and "Waiting," both of which were also featured in the hit movie Janji Joni. Later in the year, Beni left to focus on his duties as drummer for The Upstairs, while Bimo moved to Bali to continue his studies. Karon ’N Roll guitarist Arfan (or Apoy) was drafted as bassist, Gigih Suryo Prayogo (alias Kiting) of It’s Different Class took over Bimo’s place behind the drumkit, and live keyboardist Retiara Haswidya Nasution (a.k.a Kaka) was promoted to full-time member.

In 2006, The Adams’ new line-up released v2.05, which expanded their old sound with more elaborate song structures and swirling five-part harmonies. With the hit singles "Halo Beni," "Hanya Kau" and "Selamat Pagi Juwita" and their electrifying live shows, The Adams have become one of Indonesia’s most exciting bands.
