Q&A
So, why Dafrosty?
I named myself The Frosty to reflect what I was through in high school. I later changed it to Dafrosty so it is to be written as a special word, not just an adjective.
What inspires you?
Life, great people I encounter, my love life, the headlines, movies, good music, almost anything.
What motivates you to do music?
My main motivation is the support I get from my precious friends and family. Others include my own urge to focus on something I started.
What's the best thing to happen to you so far with doing music?
There are too many to name 'the best', but I think the hardest of all to achieve was gaining trust from my family to pursue music. Another one deserving 'the best' title was when I passed the #1000 mark on the Soundclick Hip Hop charts with Forever AD. It's highest position was #114. May not seem much, but it tells me more and more people are liking my music. I'm still quite hyped about it and it's been the reason I'm working hard to come up with better songs.
Do you ever worry people won't understand your music?
I do, so I try to push myself to reach the point where people can both understand and like my music. It seems almost impossible, so does trying to be the greatest, but that didn't seem to stop Muhammad Ali.
What's the greatest advice you've been given about music?
Honest critics I received for my songs. These would tell me where I stand. After catching my breath after a song, I'd pay attention to the feedbacks. I consider it an appreciation to those who actually listen to my music before passing judgment.
Why did you choose to do rap/hip hop?
With rap, you have a larger frame to paint your expressions.
What is your most prized possession that has to do with music?
There are three; my ears, inspiration, and critics.
Who was your first music celebrity crush? Why?
J-lo. Do I really have to elaborate?
Bio
There is no better feeling than making good music. From being unable to stop yourself once you started writing the lyrics, to the surge of patience on programming the suitable drum patterns for an exciting melody found on the keyboard. Dafrosty has been pushing his talents and limits ever since he discovered that feeling. His main influences of lyricism include Nas, Sage Francis, Big Punisher, Method Man, Canibus, and The Arsonists while his production influences include The RZA, DJ Premier, RJD2, MF Grimm, and The Roots.
