MANY THANKS!!! (Wed, 24 Sep.)

Well the summer has come and gone and now we're back in the sweaty, uncomfortable climate of Hong Kong...let's hope the recent typhoon will blow some of this sticky heat up someone else's ying yang for a bit :D

We have a shite-load of footage from the summer to sift through and as soon as we chop it up and put some spice on it we'll serve it up to ya nice n steamy!  We'll let yas know when the meal is ready...

Anywho, we had one hell of a journey this summer and we thought that we'd throw out a few word of thanks to some of the cats that were along for the ride. These are in no particular order, but yeah, these are some of the peeps that helped us along the way...

Marc Beatty...the man you need to know in the UK.  Amazing tour guide, excellent host and superb engineer!  The guy is a champ!  We owe him some drinks...if you see him, grab him one for us..and give him a hug while yer at it! :P

The friendly folk at Truck Festival...hard to believe that out of all the bands I ended up staggering on stage with to sing some gospel song were from Nova Scotia!  No other festival would this happen at!  Many thanks dudes for the hook ups and the chance to "smash the bottle" against the new main stage!  A great way to start the tour!

Emily (Shindig) and Lee (Smilex/Port Mahone)...excellent gigs dudes!  Many thanks for the good times and the venues to make noise in!  We'll never look at Brighton and Oxford the same again....this may be due to the damage to our brain cells though!

Castle Eaton Studios in Randwick, Gloucestershire...who would have thought something so good would have came out of somewhere in the middle of nowhere!!  Mikey...yer a legend!  Looking forward to doing some more work together in the future!

Gibson Guitars...many thanks for the sexy T-bird bass that we got to use on tour!  I thank you, the crowds thank you and most importantly, Dave's fingers thank you :)

Shure Microphones...excellent results in the studios dudes...Dave sounds like a songbird now...a songbird from the depths of rock n roll hell! :D

And most importantly...thank YOU to all who showed up to the gigs, festivals, recording sessions, dinners, boozers, poppers and laughers!  An excellent ride was had by all!  Looking forward to doing it all again soon!

Ok...time to do some arm-less push ups...the beer and bacon sandwich diet from Truck has taken it's toll!

Stay sexy people...looking forward to seein yas at the next gig...we got some surprises planned for October!

Peace out and take er (sl)easy!

Greetings from England (Fri, 18 Jul.)
Howdy ho folks!

Just arrived in the UK yesterday and are hanging our hats in the Isle of Wight at the moment for a few home-cooked meals and some clean towels before heading to the dirty fields of Truck Festival :D

The madness begins tomorrow and thought we should give you a bit of an update to let you know when and where you can join in on the party...

A few more dates to confirm while we’re over here, but at the moment we have:

July 19th - Main Stage - Truck Festival 12:00pm
August 1st - The Hope - Brighton - 8:00pm
August 2nd - Port Mahon - Oxford - 8:00pm

...details for each show can be found in the gig listings on this site.

We’re heading to a residential studio up in Stroud for about a week after Truck and then we have to head over to Amsterdam for a few days too for some "meetings" Internet access is hit and miss at the moment, but we’ll try our best to keep ya posted on the additional shows that we’re waiting word from...

Also, we’re about to launch an official DP website in the next few days...along with the website, we’ll be doing an online release of 6 songs titled Songs of Man and Beast (Chapter I) All songs have been written, recorded and produced by DP at One Man Army Studios.

...to give ya a little taste, we introduce to you...Supermegadon!

Anywho, a few last things to do here. Chat with you all again soon...and remember to stay sexy!

Peace out!

Q&A
What does DP mean?
Many people have tried to answer this question, few have succeeded. Some think it means Digital Programmer, other sickos think Double Penetration. The sickos are actually closer to the truth...cause you're gonna feel violated once you've experienced DP! The truth is, it's up to you :) Our favourite so far is "Dildo Party" (which apparently are similar to tupperwear parties!). Feel free to venture into the realm of DP definitions...
When and where can one get DP'd?
DP are settling in for a long Christmas snack at the the moment, but we'll keep ya updated if we decide to step away from the table :)

“DP make enough noise to please any metal head out there.”

- On Tour with Shure Magazine

WHAT IS THIS… DP?

Eight powerful limbs and two bearded heads… a beast has awoken in the East. Unsatisfied with frail sounds of indie rock and the sworn enemies of cantopop, DP rely not on cunning or glamour, but sheer unstoppable power to inspire the hearts of the crowd.

The duo of Dave Wong (vocals and bass) and Paul Maclean (drums) conjure a thundering sound that is somewhere “’twixt rock and metal”  – a primordial cacophony, summoned from the ancient gods.

Loud. Fast. Heavy. Big. Hairy. Understand?

TRAVELS… CONQUESTS

Since forming in early 2007, DP has made a storming impression in their home city of Hong Kong. Shortly after the band came together, DP was invited to play at the prestigious industry showcase event Music Matters, and have played packed out shows in clubs such as yumla, Fringe Club, Grappa’s Cellar, Backstage Live and the infamous Pier Pressure shows at the Lamma ferry terminal.

At the Clockenflap festival, DP shared the jumbo stage with the likes of Young Knives, and played an unforgettable show alongside Canadian rockers You Say Party! We Say Die! during the band’s Asian tour.

In the summer of 2008 DP embarked on their first overseas campaign, traveling to the UK for a small tour that included stops in Brighton, Oxford and London, as well as a main stage appearance at Truck Festival – a stage headlined later that day by The Lemonheads.

DP’s actions have not gone unnoticed, and the band now enjoys an endorsement from premiere microphone makers Shure. DP also placed 7th on Time Out Hong Kong’s list of the city’s best musical acts in 2008.

SONGS OF MAN AND BEAST: CHAPTER ONE

Songs of Man and Beast: Chapter One is DP’s debut EP release, featuring 6 songs independently recorded and produced by DP. The EP has received praise from fans and the media (4 stars, Time Out Hong Kong), and the band is working on releasing Chapter Two in early 2009.
